That is too bad about Evan. I remember him and Dino Porrazzo being inseparable at Jordan along with a third guy I can't remember. Lots of drugs even back then. He was a good guy. They were huge Genesis fans. (Don't know why I remember that). RIP Evan. - Glen

For anybody that knew Evan Cohen I found out from a reliable source that he passed away from a drug overdose. I don’t have all the details but I have fond memories of Evan as a kid & the news hit me hard. RIP!! Evan Cohen

Hello all. I'm about ready for another mini reunion....anyone else want to get together in August somewhere? Just for drinks and casual chit chat?

Mark, I don't really watch to much of Idol, due to my schedule. But I liked both the finalist...what I heard and saw of them. I was a little more partial to Danny just because I liked his personality a bit more.

Hello to all..Teri, I was thinking about you today and wondering how you are. Would love to get together and go dancing. Let me know if you're up for a night out.

Miss you all.

Blessings and hugs,

Kathie

Looks like things slowed down a bit on the websight. OK I'll start something ! Does anybody think that Danny should have won American Idol. The gave it to Kris over Adam which was good for Adam cause he does'nt have to sing that lame song the show writes for the winner. (: lets see some action here on the websight !!!

Thanks Priscilla I've got a couple of leads on Mr Grenier. Sorry to hear about your Mom. I lost my Dad around 10 years ago and will always be grateful I was able to take care of him his last 5 months, and was there to see him out. Still miss him everyday. Thanks again, and I'll keep you posted on Mr. grenier

kATHIE,
I am so sad to hear about Lori's death. We were very good friens all the way through high school. The last time I had contact with her was 5 or 6 years ago, and she did share with me at various times her struggle with drugs. I really would like to attend her funeral so I will keep checking this site for info. I don't want to call her family unless I don't hear anything from you. Thanks.

Take care,

Malia

Just wanted you all to know that we lost another classmate. Lori Novelli passed away yesterday morning. They don't have the answer as to why as of yet. When I know, I will post her death in our "In Memory Of" section. Lori was my friend since 1st grade. She struggled with drugs all of her adult life. We didn't see each other often but always considered each other friends. Her oldest daughter Shannon is my goddaughter. Please pray for her family as they grieve their loss. I will let you know when her funeral/memorial service is in case anyone would like to attend.

Blessings to you all.

I have not visited the site in a few months, but was touched by the loss of Jeanne's sister. My condolences to you, Jeanne. I lost my mom about a week after our 30th reunion, in fact (I had not planned to be out of town for the reunion, and as it ended up, I flew down to CA to be with my mother who had fallen, and passed suddenly due to complications from that). I was with her by her side the last hours of her life, and expressed my gratitude for all that she had provided for me growing up, and her spirit and zest for life. I'm sure many of you out there have already experienced the loss of a parent, relative, or child, and going through this emphasizes this time on earth we share. Cherish it.
By the way, to Mike Bauer....I remember hearing about 10 years ago that Andy Grenier lived in Big Bear. I just went on a free identity search online, and going by what I know about him (he would be about 67 years old now!!!), and his middle initial, I see there is an Andrew A. Grenier in Running Springs, CA (just outside of Big Bear). On those type of sites, you can pay to find out additional information.
I hope to make one of the informal gatherings in the future!

It's me again, how ironic...my words are imminient in relation to our precious time AND that time well spent does matter. I lost my siter, Judi,(class of 79') last week, and I'm devastated at her sudden passing. We were so very close. Thank you to for "your" kind and warm regrets at this most difficult time. She wanted to be part of my reunion, could'nt wait for hers; a exemplatory communicator.++

January 28, 2009

Just saying..and maybe some foresight to our next wonderful gathering. Presence shares, memories unfold, time matters. The idea of inviting former jbhs/bhs would extend the fun of piecing our neighbors together is all but ironic. Take good care.

Karen Scozzola and Linda Toscano and Kelly Kroells (from Luther Burbank days), all I can say is how blessed I was to reunite with you again. Dean Whiteside, Teri Shaver, Ron Malo, Dave Hawkins, Jeanne Ramirez, Alice Thompson, Denise Lively, Rex Olsen, Cheryl Rosenthal, Dean Townsend, Lora Pappas, Annette Arroyo, Gene DeFelicis, Scott Miller and Rene Smola all had a wonderful time catching up and laughing alot! Hello friends,

Sorry about all the (crap). I haven't checked the site for a while. I've changed the settings on this guestbook so when anyone signs in here, it will first go to me at my email address where I can approve or disapprove. That way if I don't check this site, I'll be notified. However, this means that when you write something, it will NOT be seen immediately. But bare with me until I can chat with someone and find out if there is a way to complain to the drug companies about all that (crap) they are sending out.

Hope you all have a safe and blessed New Year.

Hugs,

Kathie

Happy holidays to all of our classmates. I Look forward to seeing those that can make it to the Burbank Bar N Grill in January. By the way, I talked to Darlene and she will be coming out from Texas on the 23rd and staying for about a week. Maybe we could meet sometime in that week.

Dean, I got the CD's and have listened to both. I enjoyed Tristen's much more than the other one. I like songs that have a rhythm I can latch onto. I did find, however, that by the end of Tristen's CD I was wanting a bit more variety. Everything started to blur into one. But my favorite songs are the first 4 on the CD with the 1st one being my very favorite. She has a very interesting voice. Thank you so much for sharing. I'm not remembering the name of the band on the other CD, but they are really good players. I think the singer reminded me of a cross between Elvis and the Doors...(at least if my memory serves me correctly) I've only listened to it once. Maybe I'll have to go back and revisit. Have a great Thanksgiving if I don't chat with you again before then.

I know I'm thankful for the friends and family God has given me.

Blessings,

Hi Gene, I will be waiting to hear the date for the January gig, it sounds like everyone had a great time at the reunion. It will be great to see old faces, ya like someone wrote, it's hard to believe we are approching 50!!!!!

Anyone else out there that knows me, send me a note, I would love to hear from old pals!!

Oh ya, Gene, to answer your question, I lived in Texas for 8 years, I have been back about 6 weeks.

Gene De Felicis

October 24, 2008

Hi Malia. How long did you live in Texas? We are getting together in January at the Burbank Bar n Grill. Come join us. We had a blast there last week.

Just an update: I went and talked to the manager at the Burbank Bar n Grill about my CC# being stolen. He apologized and said that nothing like thay has happened in the 11 years he has been there. He was very concerned and said that all emplyees would be spoken to concerning this. He seemed very sincere. Everyone just be extra careful next time we meet.

Hi everyone!! I just moved back from TX. alittle over a month ago. I am really sorry that I missed the reunion in August, but since I now live hare I can attend any future activities.

Gene De Felicis

October 21, 2008

Sorry to have to post this but... MY CHECKING ACCOUNT WAS CLEANED OUT AFTER OUR NIGHT AT THE BURBANK BAR N GRILL. I just got off the phone with my bank and it appears that immediately after I paid for my drinks at the bar the night of or mini reunion on 10/17 My account started getting hit with fraudulent charges. Three of them hit before we got to Tommy's, and then they continued to hit afterwards. Cleaned my acount dry.

On a lighter note: I still had a BLAST! I hope all is well with all of you. Can't wait to see you in January. I'll be bringing cash. :)

Kathie, Teri, Jeanie, Dave, Stacey and Gene. Wow what a blast!! and an unexpected treat. I really enjoyed spending time with you all and I am already looking forward to our next adventure. Jeanie thanks for the heads up on the BHS mixer. I just wish I could have stayed longer. Seeing old friends from Luther Burbank was such a surprize and so much fun. Kathie the pictures of the armadillo cakes were a smash at work everybody thought they were amazing! Gene, It's always good spending time with you and Stacey and Pictures from the upcoming party will be a crack up I am sure. I will see you there.

Gene De Felicis

October 19, 2008

I couldn't agree with you more Kathie. I had an absolute blast at both places. Dave Hawkins, it was great finally spending some time with you and your first two beers are on me in January. Jeanie, it was so good talking with you again and thanks for letting us know about the BHS mixer. Seeing Bev Forrand again after 33 years really made my night. Teri and Kathie, as always, you are so much fun to be around. Thanks Teri for driving so far to be with us. Dean, Good spending time with you and I'll see you next weekend. We'll have to post some pics so everyone here can laugh at us.

Kathie Christman Kallestad

October 18, 2008

Well, I can't speak for any of you that showed up last night, but I had a wonderful time. For those curious minds out there, Dean Whiteside, Gene DeFelicis and his lovely wife Stacy, Dave Hawkins, Jeanie Ramirez, Teri Shaver and myself started the evening at the Burbank Bar and Grill. We then decided a Tommy's hamburger was in order..lots of chili to go around and then we "crashed" the Burbank Highs get together at the Whiskey Bend (did I get that right) where we were reunite with our Luther Burbank friends, Beverly Forrand, Kelly Krolls, Karen Scozzola and Ladonna Grande.

It was once again a great way to get out of the house and have a visit with "old" friends.

Dean, thanks for the pictures. I also hope you guys from the football team are able to put together a compilation of footage from your old games.

We all agreed that our next get together will be the middle of January 2009. So anyone else who is interested, please keep watching this site for more details. In fact, if you are interested, just drop me an email and I'll start a list. That way I will know who to contact as the time gets closer.

Blessings, thanks for a fun night.

Dave...I owe you a CD.

Hello again, ok, here's what I know. Teri Shaver, myself, Ron Malo, Gene DeFelicis and Mark Denny will be at the Burbank Bar and Grill this Friday, October 17th. If anyone else is interested in joining us, come on down. I apologize for NOT being able to send out individual emails for this meeting..I just haven't had the time. One of these days I'll figure out how to email everyone at once and "hide" everyone's address. Until then, I ask your forgiveness. Hope to see some of you soon.

I'm not sure yet, I haven't had time to send out emails. I don't know how to "blast" without letting everyone see everyone else's email, so I always have to do it one at a time. So any suggestions or info on how I "bulk" email without all the emails showing would be great.

Gene, great story. There are certain people who forge and impression on you as a kid growing up. Your dad was one of those people. He was one of the best coaches I ever had, definitely "old school". I look back and it wasn't just about playing football, it was teaching you how to be a man. I now coach my young boys and their teammates and I try to live up to those great coaches I had. It's not just about playing...its about what your made up of. Give him my best. I know he gave us his.

Hey Vic Nill. Not only don't I sing Saturday in the Park anymore, but it took me a couple minutes to even recall the old Chicago song. When I thought back to high school the only songs that came to mind seemed to be all by Queen. It looks like 30 years after Mr Rouse's printshop classes we're both still in printing. I'll email you.

Gene: The honor bestowed on your dad was a long time coming. I'm going to share the article with my dad today. I remember when my dad coached for the Sun Valley Falcons because Burbank didn't have a team. Once the Vikings were started by your dad and Joe O. he moved my brothers to the Burbank Vikings to play and from then on he coached Vikings for many years. I remember the green and gold cheerleading outfits too! Great memories!
